Day of a Month

We have grouped a small set of 15 JLPT N5 Japanese kotoba that indicate day of a month. While it is supposed to be 31 words, there is a formula for rest of the words

Note: You must know Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji to learn them.

This is an easy milestone to cross because we just have to add Nichi Kanji (日) to Numbers. Initially even though it may be difficult for you to pronounce, you can understand the day of a month in written form.

List of JLPT N5 words that indicates Day of a Month

Kanji Kana Romaji Meaning
一日 ついたち Tsuitachi 1St Day Of A Month

二十日 はつか Hatsuka 20Th Day Of A Month
二十四日 にじゅうよっか Ni Juu Yokka 24Th Day Of A Month

and so on

From 11th day onwards we say 11 in Japanese and "nichi" for day
11 in Japanese is "Juu ichi" and day in Japanese is "nichi"
So 11th day is Juu ichi + nichi = Juu ichi nichi

Slight Exception is for 14th day of a month
We will use yokka (for four) and making it juu yokka (juu is 10 and yokka is 4)

Slight Exception is for 24th day of a month (Similar to 14th)
We will use yokka (for four) and making it ni juu yokka (nijuu is 20 and yokka is 4)

Exception is for 20th day of a month
20th day of a month is called "Hatsuka"

From 21 onwards, same formula like 11 onwards
For example 21st day is twenty + one + days = ni jyu + ichi + nichi
and so on

Now you have completed learning them. Congrats. This is a "small success" and a step ahead to completing all JLPT Level N5 Vocabulary.
